Where a painting lives.
After the Soirée, the question I heard most wasn’t whether a piece was available. It was whether it would work — over the sofa, at the end of the hall, in a room with that much light. So I started showing people.
This is Have Some Fun Today, six feet tall, in a room that lets it breathe. Bright walls, quiet furniture, one loud thing. That’s usually all it takes.
If you’ve been wondering about a painting and a wall, send me a photo of the wall. I’ll show you the painting in your space. It’s the fastest way I know to answer the question.
New, large, and exactly as it came out.
When I was painting this one I let the flow take over. Movement, color, the excitement of a child discovering something for the first time. Then I stepped away for weeks. When I came back I let it live exactly the way it came out. That used to be rare. It seems to be happening more and more these days.
For a specific wall, and a specific person.
Five paintings this year began as a conversation about a room. Commissions are the most personal work I do, and the most collaborative — your space, your light, your colors, my hand. If you’re thinking about one for the holidays, we should begin by mid-October so it has time to be painted, cured, and hung before the season arrives.
One more evening is taking shape in the studio this fall — cocktails, early November. Details in the next issue. Reply if you’d like to be first to know.
And as always, for anything else — a question, a price, a studio visit — simply reply to this note.
